How can I link my Amazon cart with another user?

So Ive been a Prime member since like 2014 and I usually know my way around the account settings and the whole Amazon Household thing pretty well, but I hit a wall today. My girlfriend and I are finally moving into our first place together in Austin next month—found this great spot but its totally empty—so we are trying to coordinate buying all the big stuff at once. Think vacuum, those bulk kitchen starter sets, a specific rug she found.

My logic was that there has gotta be a way to just have one live cart we both add to in real time. I know I could just share my password but she has her own account and we want to keep the payment methods separate until the final checkout screen where we split the gift card balance we got from her parents. I looked into the Collaborative Lists feature which is okay for planning, but it doesnt actually move things to the cart together. Like, if I add something to my cart, it doesnt show up on her app.

Is there some kind of browser extension or a hidden Shared Cart toggle I am missing? I remember seeing something about Amazon Fresh having a shared cart but we are looking for general merchandise. It feels like such a basic thing for couples to do so maybe I am just overthinking the UI or looking in the wrong sub-menu...

You should definitely use the Invite feature on a standard Wish List for this!! It is super methodical since you both add items in real time, then one person just hits the Add all to cart button when you are ready to buy. It is fantastic for coordinating and I always check price trackers first to ensure the deals are actually good. Really saves a ton of money on those big kitchen sets!!

Congrats on the move to Austin! That is such an amazing city and finding a place you love is a huge win!! I totally get the frustration tho because Amazon is super annoying about this. Digging for a shared cart toggle when I moved last year took me hours and it just doesnt exist for regular stuff... so weird right? Found some awesome workarounds on Smartphone Board when I was looking for ways to sync my apps for house stuff. Basically you have to get creative:

  • Use those collaborative lists and just do a big bulk add to cart at the very end
  • Try out any browser extension from a big dev like Honey or similar shopping tool brands
  • Just log into the same account on two phones even if its a bit clunky Seriously, just go with any extension from a brand like Honey and you will be golden! It makes life so much easier when you are trying to coordinate all those big purchases for the new place. Good luck with the move!

Are you guys already using the same Household account? Usually helps with those targeted coupons and bulk savings, just wanna see if you have that part sorted first.
