sorry if this is a super basic question and i feel kinda stupid asking this because everyone else probably knows how it works but my 10 year old daughter just came to me begging to make an amazon wishlist for her birthday coming up next month on the 15th and honestly i am completely lost with all this tech stuff. normally we just write things down on paper or she tells me when we are at Target but she wants to use amazon this time because her friends are doing it and she found a bunch of cute crafts and books she wants. the problem is i dont have a clue how she is supposed to send it to me since she doesnt have her own adult account obviously shes on a kids profile attached to my husband's prime account and every time we click around on the app it just looks super confusing with all the family sharing settings and household stuff and i am honestly worried shell accidentally buy something or order the wrong thing with my saved credit card if I push the wrong button. her birthday is getting closer by the day and she keeps asking me if i saw the stuff she added and i keep having to lie and say yes i need to check it later so I really need to figure this out before she gets suspicious. does anyone know the exact steps for how a kid can actually share their wishlist with a parent when theyre on a shared family account? like do we need a special link or is there a button im totally missing somewhere...

Saw this earlier but just had time to log back in. Amazon actually locks down wishlist sharing for linked child profiles under the Amazon Household feature for privacy reasons, which is super annoying when you are just trying to see a birthday list. Here is the workaround to bypass the restriction:

  • Log into your husband's primary Amazon account on a desktop browser or the mobile app.
  • Go to the Amazon Household settings and switch the profile view to your daughter's child profile.
  • Create a fresh wishlist directly from her profile view and let her add her crafts and books there.
  • Instead of using the broken share button, just copy the public URL of the list from the browser address bar and text it to yourself. Honestly, the direct link bypasses all the clunky household permissions. Just make sure 1-Click ordering is toggled off in your account settings so she cant accidentally buy anything.

Over the years, I've handled many similar setups. Are you using the iOS or Android app right now, and is your daughter on an Amazon Kids profile or a standard sub-account?
