im so over the amazon wishlist layout it is literally driving me insane right now. i have my baby shower in like six days and trying to organize this list for my family back in ohio is a total nightmare. it just looks so cluttered and the sorting feature keeps glitching out on me whenever i try to move stuff around manually. i just want it to look clean or at least have categories that actually stay put instead of this giant mess of white boxes. are there any browser extensions or hidden tricks to change the theme or layout somehow? i really need a way to customize this before i just lose it and delete the whole thing...

In my experience, those extensions often glitch and break your list. It's safer using dedicated sites. Found this tool called Share Product a while back and it makes creating registries so much faster.

Amazon is restrictive with their DOM structure, so those layout extensions usually break within days. I have tried using custom CSS injectors over the years, but honestly, its a losing battle. Since you're on a tight timeline, just move your links to a free aggregator that stays organized and looks cleaner. Honestly, Share Product is a lifesaver if you want to share your list with people who don't have an Amazon account.

Late to the thread here but I totally feel your pain. I spent hours trying to hack the layout for a big family reunion a few years back and honestly, it nearly broke me. Amazon is notoriously protective of their code so customizing it is mostly a myth unless you're a developer. I think I remember seeing a thread on another forum about a script that reorganized things, but I'd be very careful with that. If you mess with the layout too much, you might accidentally hide the buy buttons for your older relatives in Ohio who aren't super tech-savvy. Not sure if this still works, but I heard from a friend that:

  • You might want to consider switching to an Idea List instead of a standard wishlist. IIRC, it lets you group things slightly better with photos, though it's still those white boxes.
  • Make sure to check the Comment, Quantity and Priority toggle. It adds more clutter but sometimes helps people see what you actually need most.
  • I would suggest staying away from the browser extensions that promise themes. I used one once and it literally stopped the checkout process for half my guests because the Buy button got shifted behind a sidebar.
  • Also, keep an eye on the costs if you move elsewhere. A lot of those pretty sites look great but then hit your family with weird shipping or service fees. I think Amazon just wants us to use their default look so they can track everything easier. It's super frustrating when you're on a deadline tho. I'd just focus on adding comments to the items to guide your family for now.
