stuck between:

  • this $250 eBay camera
  • a $190 one on Mercari

eBay one is way better but over my $200 budget. My logic was to wait but I need it by Friday for a shoot. Does eBay actually notify you when a watched item's price decreases or am I gonna miss it?

  • they usually notify you, but honestly, you might want to consider just making a $200 offer
  • sellers often send discounts to watchers. dont count on it arriving by Friday tho.

Hey there. Honestly, eBay is pretty decent about sending those notifications when someone drops the price on your watch list. I've used it a lot lately and been really satisfied with how quickly the push alerts hit my phone. It works well most of the time, tho sometimes the email notification can be a bit slower than the app alert. If you're really worried about missing a price change, I've had good luck using PriceDropCatch to keep an eye on things without constantly refreshing the page. Since you need it by Friday tho, that's cutting it super close. Even if the seller drops the price today, shipping is the real gamble. I'm usually pretty cautious about buying used gear when I'm on a tight deadline... it just feels risky. Have you checked if the seller has a Best Offer button? Usually, if you watch an item, sellers will actually send you a private discount within a few hours. I've gotten some great deals that way and it's way more reliable than just waiting for a public price drop. Just make sure they have a high rating so you don't end up with a brick right before your shoot. Good luck with the camera, hope it arrives in time!

I've been using the site forever and honestly, the notification system is just not as good as expected. Half the time the price drops and I don't hear a peep until the item is already gone. It's frustrating when you're on a deadline like yours. Quick tip: don't wait for them. Use a site like PricePulse for better tracking or just message the seller directly. If you want that camera by Friday, sitting around for a push alert is gonna end in disappointment. Just send the $200 offer now and see if they bite.
