Can two different Amazon accounts share and sync a shopping cart?

So my partner and I are finally tackling our basement remodel here in Chicago, trying to get it all done before my family visits next month. We have a budget of about 3000 dollars for the whole setup, mostly buying smart home gear, some lighting, and AV cables on Amazon.

I have been using Amazon for years, totally get how the ecosystem works, and we already have our accounts linked via Amazon Household to share Prime. Normally we just use the shared wishlists feature for birthdays and stuff, which works fine for passive saving. But for this project, it is becoming a massive pain.

We keep running into this issue where we are both researching parts at the same time. We add stuff to a shared list, but then I have to go in, transfer the items to my cart, make sure the correct seller is selected, apply coupons, and check out. Half the time, the price changes or it goes out of stock in the transition.

What we really need is a live, real-time synced shopping cart. Like, if she adds a specific mount on her phone, it just appears in my cart instantly so whoever is ready can just hit buy. I looked into some browser extensions but they look super sketchy and I dont want to compromise our account security. Logging her phone into my account directly is also a no-go because it messes up our personalized recommendations and search history, plus the constant 2FA verification prompts are annoying.

Is there any native feature or workaround I am missing that actually lets two separate Amazon accounts share and sync a single active cart? Or are we just stuck with the old school copy-pasting links back and forth...

I feel your pain so much on this, it is seriously the most frustrating thing when you're trying to stay under a strict budget. We went through this when upgrading our home tech and it drove me crazy. A few things that always mess us up:

  • lightning deals expire while you are transferring items from lists to the main cart
  • coupon clips dont always carry over between accounts
  • prices fluctuate hourly on AV cables and smart gear Honestly, Amazon really needs to fix this because it makes budget tracking a nightmare. Let me know if you need help looking for cheaper cable alternatives, I found a few good bulk sites recently.

Unfortunately, Amazon still doesn't let you sync carts across different accounts. My partner and I went through this exact same nightmare last year when we did our living room. Amazon Household is honestly so disappointing for actual collaboration. I actually found a thread on Smartphone Board when I was looking for a workaround for our smart home setup. Here is what we ended up doing to survive the process:

  • We decided to just buy everything from TP-Link for the smart gear. Sticking to one brand made it way easier to track what we needed.
  • We abandoned the Amazon lists entirely and used a shared document with direct links.
  • One of us just did all the ordering from a laptop while the other called out items. It is definitely not as good as a synced cart, which is pretty ridiculous for a company as big as Amazon.

Honestly, the closest workaround that actually works well for us is using the invite others feature on a standard Amazon Idea List. It is not a live cart, but if you set the list to collaboration mode, you both can add, edit, and see real-time updates on your phones. When you are ready to buy, you just open the list and hit add to cart next to the items. It takes like two seconds and avoids the weird 2FA issues. We did this for our kitchen remodel and I was super satisfied with how it kept us on budget without messing up our recommendations. Found a really helpful thread over on Smartphone Board that explains exactly how to do this.
