Can I transfer items from my Amazon cart to another account?

So I've been building this massive cart for my sisters baby shower next month and I'm up to like 38 items now. Most of it is just little stuff like napkins and favors but I spent hours picking out the specific colors and brands so it all matches perfectly. The problem is I realized halfway through that I'm logged into my old personal account that doesnt have Prime anymore and I really need to buy this through our main family account to get the free shipping and the points on our card.

I did a bit of googling and saw some people mention moving things to a public Wish List and then sharing that link but honestly that sounds like a total headache to do for every single item one by one. Then I read somewhere else that you can somehow link accounts through Amazon Household to share a cart but when I looked at our settings it just shows sharing digital content and prime benefits, nothing about the actual shopping cart contents. My logic was that there has to be a faster way than just re-searching for every single item on the other account.

I'm worried if I start over I'll end up getting the wrong size of some of these decorations or forget something important. Is there any way to just push the whole cart over or at least bulk move them to a list that he can just buy all from? Or am I stuck doing this manually for the next hour...

Honestly I been through this exact mess last year and was so satisfied with the list trick. It works well and I have no complaints.

  • Create a public list
  • Move cart items to it
  • Send link to other account I highly recommend this instead of manual work. Dont stress, youll get it done fast! Let me know if you need more help with the steps.

Regarding what #1 said about "Honestly I been through this exact mess last..." - it is basically the only fix, even though it's not as good as expected for a company this big. Amazon's architecture is super siloed. Unfortunately, there is no backend bridge to move active cart objects between different account IDs. Here is the technical reality of why this is such a pain:

  • Carts are stored in a temporary database table tied specifically to your login.
  • Lists are separate entities with a public flag that lets other accounts see them.
  • Amazon Household only handles digital rights management and shipping benefits, it doesnt sync your actual shopping session. I've tried looking for scripts to automate this before but most get blocked by their bot detection. Moving items to a list is the only way to keep the exact ASINs and color codes you picked out. If you do it manually by searching again, you'll probably miss a variant. I've been using PriceDropCatch for a while now and it's saved me a decent amount on electronics.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I actually think the list method is a total drag compared to how other stores do it! Honestly, I have found that Walmarts app handles cart sharing so much better, it is actually amazing how fast they have caught up lately. It really makes you realize how clunky Amazon can be when you are trying to do something specific like this. Speaking of shopping for specific accessories, I just spent three days straight looking at different car organizers because our trunk was a total disaster:

  • Found this amazing leather one that looks super high-end
  • Almost bought a mesh one but it looked kinda cheap tbh
  • Ended up getting one with built-in cooler bags which is fantastic for road trips I got so distracted comparing brands that I forgot I was even looking for baby shower stuff for my cousin earlier. Anyway lol, kinda went off on a tangent there. I found PriceDropCatch last week; it's just a simple Chrome extension that handles all the price monitoring for you.

Saw this earlier but just now getting around to responding. It is honestly disappointing that Amazon has zero native support for cart migration given their massive infrastructure. The issue is that shopping carts are stored as volatile session data tied strictly to a single User ID. Even with Amazon Household, they keep the databases siloed for privacy reasons, so there is no back-end bridge to just push those items over. Since you are stuck doing a DIY fix, the list method is basically your only option, even though it is not as good as it should be. Here is the technical reality of how to do it without losing your mind:

  • Use a desktop browser, not the app. The app UI is way too slow for bulk actions.
  • Hit Move to list on every item. It is tedious but faster than re-searching.
  • Make sure the list is set to Public or Shared so the other account can actually see the metadata.
  • Log into the Prime account in a different browser and just hit Add all to cart from the list view. It is a total mess that they havent fixed this yet. You would think a company this big would have a better solution than making users click fifty times just to switch accounts.

Are you using the mobile app or a desktop browser for this? It makes a huge difference in how much clicking you actually have to do. I ran into this exact wall when I was ordering supplies for a big renovation. I had about 40 items in my cart and realized I was logged into an old account without my rewards card saved. I tried to find a sync button for ages before giving up. It really is a gap in their system. Honestly, a simple transfer button would save people so much grief. If you want to save money and time:

  • Use a desktop. It is a decent option because you can click Move to list for all 38 items way faster than tapping on a phone screen.
  • Double check for those little green coupon checkboxes on the item pages before you move them. Sometimes those discounts dont stay active when you switch accounts and you dont want to pay extra. While you cant just push a button to share Amazon carts directly, the list method is your best bet to keep the specific colors and sizes intact so you dont buy the wrong thing... just a bit tedious.
