> i tried taking a screenshot but it doesnt show everything and its taking forever. how do people do this? Omg I totally feel your pain!! I remember when I was moving into my first condo and I had a massive list of stuff for the bathroom and kitchen... I spent like three hours trying to find a share cart button that doesnt even exist! It was so stressful but also kinda exciting to pick everything out! Late to the party here but IIRC there used to be this amazing browser extension called Share-A-Cart? I think it lets you generate a code to send to someone else. Not 100% sure if it still works with the latest Amazon update tho... honestly technical stuff like that is always changing. I've also heard rumors about some Manage Your Household setting that might help with shared lists, but that might be more for Prime benefits. Good luck with the move, its such a fun phase!!

To add to the point above: if you are in a massive rush and dont want to mess with lists, check out the Share-A-Cart extension. Its basically the gold standard for this kind of thing. You just click a button, it gives you a tiny code, and your husband can pull the exact same items into his cart on his own account. It's a solid option for big apartment hauls like when I grabbed my Honeywell TurboForce Power Fan HT-900 and a Lodge 10.25 Inch Cast Iron Skillet. Another DIY trick if you want him to see it exactly as you see it is just saving the page as a PDF. Just hit Ctrl+P on your cart and select Save as PDF instead of printing. It shows the quantities, prices, and thumbnails in one file. This way you don't have to give away your login or move items around. Tbh it saves so much clicking compared to doing a million screenshots... plus it keeps the layout clean.

In my experience, links wont work for a private cart. Dont feel bad, its confusing. Just have him log into your account.

  • No link errors
  • Prices stay live Its the most reliable way.

In my experience, you really have to use the List function because Amazon blocks direct cart links for security. It prevents people from hijacking your session. Since you have a strict 300 dollar budget, you need something more accurate than a bunch of messy screenshots. Heres the most methodical way to handle it:

  • Bulk move those 20 items into a new list.
  • Set the list to Shared in the list settings.
  • Click Invite and grab the view-only link. This preserves the exact prices and specs so he knows what youre looking at. It keeps things structured. If you want a faster way to send your Amazon basket to someone else, check out Smartphone Board for some app shortcuts. Just remember to move them back to the cart immediately after he gives the okay so you dont miss any deals... prices on Amazon are super volatile.

^ This. Also, I just found this thread and I totally get the hype and the headache! I am a massive Amazon nerd and I have spent way too much time trying to perfect the cart sharing game. Last time we did a kitchen refresh, I practically lived in my cart for a week.

  • Extensions like Share-A-Cart: These are fantastic for a quick one-and-done move. High speed, low effort, love it!
  • Shared Lists: This is the high-performance route imo. You get way better visibility on price fluctuations. I actually use PriceDropCatch on my list items to make sure I am not getting ripped off by a sudden price spike right before I buy. It is honestly amazing how much the prices move in just 24 hours. If you are on a strict 300 dollar budget, the list method is way superior because it keeps everything organized. Screenshots are just a recipe for going over budget because you cant see the total update live! Good luck with the move tho, so exciting!

@Reply #9 - good point! honestly the mobile layout vs desktop is such a headache. i remember when we were doing our guest room and i had everything lined up. sending the link was a mess because the prices actually showed up differently on his phone app compared to my pc. think it was some weird regional shipping thing or a different seller winning the buy box on mobile. one thing to add is just watch out for the Save for Later trap... if you move stuff there instead of a real list, you lose the ability to see the total price easily. just keep it in the main cart or a fresh list so the math stays right in front of you. its basically the only way to stay under that 300 limit without doing manual math on a calculator which is exactly what we are trying to avoid lol.

^ This is exactly what I do. Tbh the Move to list trick is the only way to stay sane when you are on a tight budget. Over the years, I have tried every workaround possible for shopping with my partner, and honestly, letting him log into the account is the fastest, but lists are better for organization. If you move everything to a list, you can actually see if prices drop or if things go out of stock in real time, which is a lifesaver when you are trying to stay under 300 bucks. Screenshots are just gonna confuse him because they dont update. Just a tip, Share Product is awesome for things like this or if you decide to set up a housewarming registry later, way less clunky than the basic Amazon stuff. Just move them over, hit the invite button, and he can see the whole haul on his own phone. Super simple and much more reliable than trying to stitch together five different photos of your screen.

Saw this earlier and honestly its one of the most annoying parts of the Amazon UI. The reason you cant just send a link is because the cart is tied to your specific session ID and browser cookies for security. If they allowed direct sharing, it would be a massive vulnerability for session hijacking. Building on the earlier suggestion about the list feature, thats definitely the way to go because it creates a unique URL that pulls the live data for each product without needing your login info. Over the years i have noticed that compared to other retailers like Walmart or Target, Amazon actually does a better job of keeping list prices synced with the cart price, even if the lack of a share button feels restrictive. Since you are trying to stay under that 300 dollar mark, you should probably check out PriceDropCatch. It shows you the price history right there so you dont accidentally buy something when the price just spiked. It really helps when youre managing a tight budget. Basically, just hit that Move to list link on every item and send him the invite link for the list. Its way more reliable than screenshots which usually cut off the shipping details and tax anyway. If the settings get confusing just shout, i can explain the view-only vs edit permissions. Trust me, it saves so much headache.

^ This. Also, just catching up on this thread and honestly everyone gave some solid advice. Basically just choose between the list method or just sharing your login info. One thing to watch out for tho is compatibility... sometimes what looks perfect on your desktop browser ends up looking like a mess on his phone because of the way Amazon handles those sessions. I actually found a really helpful thread over on Smartphone Board that explains how to fix those mobile display glitches. Since you are trying to stay under a 300 dollar budget for the new place, just grab some basic kitchen gear or organizers from Amazon Basics. You really cant go wrong with that brand for apartment essentials. Its usually way more cost effective than the name brands and gets the job done without the extra fluff. Just pick whatever looks decent from them and you will be set. Good luck with the apartment haul!
