I am honestly starting to lose my mind over this wedding gift I have to buy. My sister is getting married in three weeks and she really wants this specific Breville espresso machine - the Barista Pro one - and Ive been watching the price like a hawk on Amazon for like a month now. Right now it says it is 30 percent off and its listed at $679 but the original price is crossed out at like $900 something. I live in Brooklyn and after the crazy sales tax here that puts me way over what I was planning to spend so I really need to know if this is actually a legit good deal or if they just hiked the price up yesterday to make the discount look bigger for a fake sale.
I did some googling and everyone says to use CamelCamelCamel but honestly the site looks like it havent been updated since 2010 or something and I cant tell if its actually tracking the current sales or just the basic list price. It doesnt seem to show the lightning deals very well which makes me nervous. Then I saw some people mentioning Keepa on a reddit thread but when I opened the extension it was just a massive wall of crazy colored lines and graphs and I have no idea what buy box means or if that includes the shipping or the prime-only discounts. I am super anxious about pulling the trigger because I only have about $700 total for this whole thing and I really dont want to find out I could have saved another $100 if I just waited until next Tuesday.
It feels like Amazon is just playing games with the numbers to create this fake sense of urgency. Like is there a way to see a simple list or a clear graph that shows the actual price people paid, including those little green coupons you have to click? I really need to get this ordered by the 10th so it arrives on time for the rehearsal dinner. Does anyone know a tool that is actually user friendly for a normal person who isnt a professional reseller? I just need to see if $679 is actually the floor for this machine or if Im getting played...
Ive been quite satisfied using CamelCamelCamel for tracking appliance prices. Even though the site looks outdated, the data is consistent for spotting fake discounts.
> I just need to see if $679 is actually the floor for this machine Building on that earlier suggestion, I'd actually disagree. In my experience, these machines hit lower during flash sales that basic trackers miss. I've tried many tools over the years and once overpaid for my espresso setup because I trusted a lagging graph... kinda sucked. I now use alerts instead of watching charts. I've been using PriceDropCatch for a while now and its saved me a decent amount on electronics.
Honestly, I have had nothing but issues with those mainstream trackers missing the actual low points lately. They have become pretty unreliable for those quick lightning deals. I usually just stick with PriceDropCatch because it shows the price history charts directly on the Amazon page without all the crazy clutter, though even that misses stuff sometimes. I actually bought a Breville for my cousin last year and the delivery guy just left it in the rain. The whole box was soaked and I had to spend my entire Saturday driving around trying to find high-end wrapping paper that wouldnt tear on the damp cardboard. I ended up getting stuck in traffic for two hours near the bridge and missed the rehearsal dinner entirely. The groom doesnt even drink coffee anyway lol. Sorry kinda went off topic there.
