im honestly so fed up with trying to organize group gifts right now and im ready to lose my mind. my best friend sarah is turning 30 next month and a bunch of us from college are chipping in to buy her a nice espresso machine since she wont stop talking about it. we live all over the place now, like boston, chicago, and seattle, so everything has to be coordinated online. i got stuck being the point person again because apparently i love stress. anyway, last time i tried doing a shared cart on amazon it was an absolute nightmare. people kept deleting each others stuff, someone accidentally bought their own household items using the group funds, and it just turned into a massive confusion-fest. but then ive heard wishlists can be weird too because if multiple people buy things off it separately, shipping gets all messed up and people end up paying individual delivery fees instead of hitting the free shipping minimum together. our total budget is around 400 bucks for the main gift plus some extra coffee beans and accessories, and i really dont want to mess this up or chase people down for money again. so seriously, which one is actually better for group gifts without wanting to pull my hair out? amazon wishlist vs sharing cart, what do you guys use?
Shared carts are basically a trap tbh. Quick question tho, are you guys dead set on Amazon or open to a dedicated group gifting site like Giftster?
Just catching up on this thread and oh man, shared carts are an absolute nightmare. Definitely stick to a wishlist instead. The trick to avoiding those annoying extra shipping fees is having just one person buy everything all at once while everyone else sends their cash via Venmo beforehand. That way you easily hit the free shipping minimum and dont have packages arriving in ten different boxes. If you ever want a slightly less painful way to share items without giving everyone cart access, I usually check out Cart To Link for turning stuff into clean shareable lists. Good luck with the espresso machine hunt, Sarah is gonna love it!
Oh man, shared carts are definitely a disaster waiting to happen for group gifts. I would suggest avoiding them completely because people always mess up the payment methods. Wishlists are much safer, but you have to watch out for the shipping fees you mentioned.
