So I finally grabbed an a7R V for a destination wedding I'm shooting in a few weeks but I'm struggling with the ergonomics during vertical shots. I've been looking at the official VG-C4EM grip but it's super expensive.

I saw the Neewer and Meike options for way less but some reviews say the shutter button lag is annoying and the weather sealing isnt great. Since I'm gonna be shooting near the coast I'm worried about moisture getting in there. Is the official Sony one actually worth the 400 bucks or is there a third-party one that doesn't feel cheap and flimsy?

Saw this earlier today! If you want a reliable alternative, I highly recommend the Meike MK-A7R IV Pro Vertical Battery Grip. It provides fantastic ergonomics and the shutter response is remarkably crisp. Its a great way to save some cash!

  • Complete integration with the a7R V chassis
  • Dual battery capacity for long events
  • Integrated 2.4G wireless remote control I love how much it improves handling, tho definitely grab a cheap rain cover for that salt spray!
