I'm in the market for a new mirrorless camera from Sony, and my budget is around $1000. I'm looking for a camera that can handle various shooting scenarios, from portraits to landscapes, and maybe some video recording as well. I'm open to both crop-sensor and full-frame options, as long as they fit within my budget.
Can anyone recommend the best Sony mirrorless camera for under $1000? I'd appreciate insights into the pros and cons of different models, as well as any personal experiences you might have with them.

If you're open to both crop-sensor and full-frame options, I'd highly recommend the Sony a6400. It's a fantastic crop-sensor mirrorless camera that packs a lot of features for its price point (around $800 for the body).
Pros:
- 24.2MP APS-C sensor with excellent image quality
- 4K video recording with good autofocus performance
- 11fps continuous shooting with autofocus/auto-exposure tracking
- Reliable and fast autofocus system with 425 phase-detection points
- Compact and lightweight body
- Built-in viewfinder (a rarity in this price range)
Cons:
- No in-body image stabilization (IBIS)
- Limited buffer depth for continuous shooting
- No headphone jack for video monitoring
Overall, the a6400 is a versatile and capable camera that should meet your needs for various shooting scenarios, including portraits, landscapes, and video. It's an excellent choice if you don't mind the crop-sensor format.
