I just bought this a7C II because people said it was small but honestly the lens I have is huge and heavy and it makes my neck hurt. I dont even know what I'm looking for really. I want one of those lenses that doesnt zoom because I heard they are smaller but there are like a million of them online and the numbers like 24mm or 35mm or f2.5 mean nothing to me. It's so frustrating trying to learn this stuff.

  • I need it to be really light
  • under 600 dollars because I already spent too much on the camera
  • good for taking photos of buildings and food while I'm in Tokyo next month

Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm just totally lost. What should I actually buy?

TL;DR: Get the Sony FE 35mm f1.8. Its a lightweight, sharp lens that fits your budget. The 35mm view is perfect for wide buildings and close-up food shots.

I took the Sony FE 40mm f2.5 G to Tokyo last year.

  • Very light
  • Sharp for buildings
  • Fits your budget Its much better than those heavy zooms.

I struggled with wide lenses in Tokyo cuz buildings looked tilted. Make sure you check focal lengths carefully...

  • do you want the whole street in shot?
  • or just close-ups of your dinner?
