Best compact wide angle lens for the Sony a7C II?

So I finally pulled the trigger on the a7C II after months of debating if I should stick with my old Fuji setup. The main reason I switched to Sony was the autofocus and the fact that the C2 is so tiny for a full frame sensor. I am heading to Tokyo and Kyoto next month for a three week trip and I really want a dedicated wide angle lens that doesnt ruin the whole point of having a compact body. I need something for those narrow streets and maybe some interior shots of temples where I cant really back up any further.

I spent way too much time on YouTube looking at reviews and now I am just more confused than when I started lol. I was looking at the Sony 24mm f/2.8 G series lens because it matches the body perfectly and it is tiny but then I keep reading that 24mm might not be wide enough for some of the architecture stuff or that f/2.8 is gonna struggle when the sun goes down and I am wandering around the neon lights. Some people say the Samyang 24mm f/1.8 is better for low light and cheaper but then other people say the build quality is hit or miss and I dont want it falling apart on me while I am overseas.

Then there is the 20mm f/1.8 G which everyone raves about but it looks a bit big on the a7C II body? I dont want it to feel front heavy because I am gonna be walking like 20k steps a day and I really want to keep this setup as discrete as possible. My budget is probably around $600 or $700 since I already spent a ton on the camera body itself. I really want something that can just stay on the camera most of the time without me feeling like I am hauling a massive rig around. What do you guys actually use on the compact bodies for travel? Should I just go with the 24mm G and deal with the f/2.8 or is there something else I am totally missing that fits the compact vibe...

> Reply #1 - good point! The 24mm G fits best since youre walking. Ngl i agree but if you want wider for temples without the weight of the 20mm G, look at the Sigma 17mm f/4 DG DN Contemporary. Its all metal so its a safer bet for travel than the Samyang. Its slower at f/4 but modern sensors handle the noise fine. Its small enough to stay on your camera all day too.
