Im so sick of deleting games every single week. My PS4 Pro is basically just a glorified storage manager at this point and its driving me crazy because I just want to play my back catalog without having to redownload a 100gb file every time I get bored. I finally have a little cash saved up, like maybe 80 to 100 bucks tops, and I need this sorted before I head back to college next month since my internet there is absolute garbage.

Ive been looking around and Im torn between the WD Black P10 and the Seagate Game Drive. The Seagate is a bit cheaper which is tempting, but Ive read mixed things about them failing after a few months. Then there is the Samsung T7, but that feels like overkill for a ps4 right? I dont want to spend extra on an SSD if the console bottleneck makes it pointless anyway. Has anyone actually used these long term? Im honestly just frustrated and want something that wont corrupt my save data after three months of use. Which one of these is actually worth the money or am I looking at the wrong stuff entirely...

Honestly, after having my share of issues, how much total space do you actually need? I have had better luck with the Western Digital Elements 2TB Portable HDD lately tbh.

Just catching up on this thread now. Honestly, I have gone through probably a dozen external drives over the years for my consoles. You are right to be skeptical about the Seagate ones, had one brick on me during a system update a while back which was a total nightmare. Honestly, the Samsung T7 is definitely overkill for a PS4 because that USB bus is gonna cap your speeds anyway, so you are just paying for performance the console cannot even use. Before I give you my two cents on what might be more reliable long term, are you planning on keeping this for just the rest of your college days or are you looking to migrate this drive over to a PS5 eventually? Also, how much storage capacity are you aiming for exactly? Trying to figure out if you prioritize raw space for a massive library or just reliability for your core games.
