I just upgraded to the Sony a6700 and need a gimbal that handles the 18-135mm lens without feeling too bulky. I'm mainly shooting travel vlogs and need something with easy balancing.

I'm a bit overwhelmed by the options. Are there better alternatives than the DJI RS 3 Mini for this specific body? What are you guys using?

yo, for your situation, im super happy with the DJI RS 3 Mini. balancing the 18-135mm is basically a breeze cuz of the dual-layered quick-release plates.

  • DJI RS 3 Mini: its only 795g, handles 2kg payload. best for travel vlogs imo.
  • Zhiyun Crane M3S: smaller, but struggles with the center of gravity on long lenses.
  • Zhiyun Weebill 3S: stronger motors, but way too bulky for vlogging. RS 3 Mini wins. no complaints!! gl

Honestly, catching up on this thread and I have to chime in on the reliability side of things. I've been in the game a long time, and while the lighter options are popular, they often lack the motor headroom needed for a lens that extends physically like the 18-135mm. When that COG (center of gravity) shifts during a zoom, it puts a MASSIVE amount of stress on the tilt motor. In my experience, I found that many smaller gimbals tend to jitter or lose calibration when you're moving fast on a vlog. I ended up transitioning to the Feiyu SCORP-C for my travel rig specifically because of the motor torque. If you're out in the field and your gimbal starts vibrating because the balance isn't 100 percent perfect, your footage is basically toast. The SCORP-C has a much more rigid frame and those oversized motors handle the a6700 without breaking a sweat. It's about that long-term gear safety and making sure the system doesn't fail when you're miles from home. Having that extra payload margin is like an insurance policy. It might be a tiny bit heavier, but the peace of mind is worth it.
