What is the absolute best budget gimbal right now for the Sony a6700 because I am seriously losing my mind looking at all these options? I finally pulled the trigger on the a6700 for my upcoming Japan trip in three weeks and I am so hyped to get some smooth cinematic footage but the internal stabilization just isnt cutting it for the walking shots I want to do.

I did a bunch of digging and the DJI RS 3 Mini keeps coming up as the top pick for small setups but then I read some comments saying the clearance is kinda tight if you use a zoom lens like the Sigma 18-50mm which is my main lens. Then I looked at the Zhiyun Crane M3S which is way cheaper and looks super portable but I am worried it wont handle the weight if I add a Rode VideoMic on top later. Its so confusing because one reviewer says its perfect and the next says the motors vibrate if you dont balance it perfectly to the millimeter.

My budget is strictly under $300 since the camera already ate my savings lol and I really need something that wont take up half my suitcase. Has anyone here actually used the a6700 with either of those or maybe something else like the Feiyu SCORP-C? Just want something reliable that doesnt feel like a chore to set up every time I see something cool to film...

Dude, you're gonna be so stoked with that setup for Japan! If you are looking for pure performance under $300, the Feiyu SCORP-C 3-Axis Gimbal 2.5kg Payload is an absolute beast. I have used it and the motor torque is actually insane for a budget gimbal. It handles the a6700 and that Sigma lens without even breaking a sweat, plus the built-in underslung handle makes those low-angle walking shots look amazing. Honestly, if you can find it on sale, the DJI RS 3 Mini 3-Axis Gimbal 2kg Payload is also a fantastic pick because it weighs almost nothing. The 2kg payload on the RS 3 Mini is way more reliable than the Crane M3S when you start adding accessories like a mic. Go with the Scorp-C if you want the best value tho, it's a total sleeper hit!

Late to the party but i have tested dozens of these over the years and i gotta say the DJI RS 3 Mini 3-Axis Gimbal Lightweight 2kg Payload is the best bet for travel.

I ended up getting the Zhiyun Crane M3S 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal for a very similar setup and honestly i am super satisfied with how it handles. It is tiny... like, smaller than a water bottle basically. I use it with my a6700 and it handles the weight just fine even when i have a small mic attached. Balancing it took me like five minutes the first time and now i can do it in under two. Ngl, the built-in fill light is actually kinda handy for those dark street shots in Tokyo too. For under 300 bucks its probably the best value if you really care about saving space in your suitcase. Since you are using the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 DC DN Contemporary Sony E, you wont have clearance issues because that lens is so short. I havent noticed any motor noise or vibration as long as you lock the axes properly. Just make sure you get the firmware updated right away and youll be golden for your trip. Dont overthink it too much or youll go crazy lol.
