Honestly been waiting for this one. Just finished updating my Sony FX30 Cinema Line Camera and everything seems to be running smooth. Im pretty happy that the focus map feature feels a bit snappier now too. For a beginner like me, anything that helps with nailing focus without spending a fortune on external monitors is a huge win. Quick tip for anyone jumping in: definitely back up your settings to an SD card like the SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB SDXC UHS-I before you start. Sometimes these big updates like to wipe your custom buttons and thats a massive pain to fix manually. Also, make sure your battery is at 100% or just plug it in. Dont want it dying mid-install lol.
Been messing with the new update for a few hours now and wow, the stability feels fantastic! I've been using these bodies for years and this is one of the more exciting jumps for sure. But seriously, listen up because I learned this the hard way... once I tried updating a body with a battery that wasn't totally full and the camera just died mid-transfer. It was a total nightmare trying to get it back to life and I almost had to send it in for repair. Whatever you do, dont just hit update and walk away! Stay near the camera and make sure it doesnt overheat or get bumped. I also noticed that some of my custom assignments got a bit wonky after the reboot, so definitely do a dry run before you head out to a real set. It's so easy to miss one little toggle that got reset to factory defaults and then you're stuck wondering why your colors look off in the middle of a shoot. Stay safe and enjoy the new features!
