I recently got the Sony A6700 and I'm looking to upgrade the audio for my videos. I mostly shoot vlogs, interviews, and some outdoor B-roll.

I'm wondering what the best mic options are for this specific camera model. I'm considering both on-camera mics and lav mics.

What mics have you used with the A6700 that have worked well? I'm looking for something with great audio quality, easy to use, and preferably under $300.

Any recommendations or personal experiences would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

DJI MIC 2 or Sennheiser MKE 600.

I've been using the Sennheiser MKE 400 with my Sony a6700 and it's been awesome. The audio quality is top-notch and it's very lightweight, making it easy to carry around. It also comes with a windscreen which is great for outdoor shoots. Definitely worth the investment!

For your Sony A6700, I'd recommend the Rode VideoMicro ii for excellent compact on-camera audio, perfect for vlogs and B-roll. For interviews, the Hollyland Lark M1/M2 wireless lav system offers fantastic sound quality and ease of use, both fitting comfortably within your $300 budget.

ngl I am super paranoid about my audio cutting out mid-vlog so I went a slightly different route with my setup. I decided to stick with a digital shotgun mic that uses the multi-interface shoe on top of the a6700 and honestly I couldnt be happier with how reliable it is. What I learned after a few messy shoots:

  • skipping the 3.5mm cable means one less thing to break or pull out by accident
  • drawing power from the camera battery is way safer than worrying if the mic battery is charged
  • the digital connection keeps the noise floor way lower than my old analog setups It is just a really solid way to work without constant anxiety about levels. My current setup just works every time I slide it on and I havent had a single audio failure since switching over. Definitely worth looking into the cable-free options if you want that peace of mind.
