for your Sony a6700, flashes offering full TTL (Through-The-Lens) and HSS (High-Speed Sync) are essential for optimal performance. Godox flashes like the TT350S, V860III-S, or V1S are highly recommended for their compatibility and feature set. Expect to pay between $85-$400, depending on power and features. Always ensure the flash specifies Sony Multi Interface Shoe (MIS) compatibility.

I suggest u get the Godox V1. It's lightweight, affordable, and produces high-quality light.

The Godox TT685ii and V860iii are excellent flash options for Sony cameras—just ensure you select the "S" model. Both models are class speedlights, but they differ in power sources; the TT685 runs on AA batteries, whereas the V860 uses a rechargeable Li-ion battery. Another strong contender is the Godox V1, which features a round flash head, offering a unique alternative to traditional speedlights’ rectangular design.

If you're primarily using the flash on your camera and have a smaller body, consider the Godox TT350S. This compact speedlight feels better balanced on smaller cameras and, while it generates less power than its larger counterparts, it remains effective for a variety of situations. Whether for event photography or casual shooting, each of these options has distinct advantages depending on your needs and style. Choose the one that best complements your shooting preferences!

TL;DR: The thread consensus points toward Godox units for the a6700 but I am still searching for other options. ^ This. Also, honestly, I have this exact same problem. I have been scouring spec sheets for weeks and I still cant find the right flash for my a6700. I am very satisfied with the camera itself but finding a high-performance unit that actually balances well on a compact body is proving to be a total nightmare. I have been researching guide numbers and recycle times for over a month now and I still havent found a definitive answer... it is just super frustrating because the technical data doesnt always match the real-world feel. Ngl I am totally stuck and just cant find a solution that works well for me yet...

I saw this thread earlier but just now responding. I honestly spent way too much time obsessing over specs before realizing that size is everything for this camera! I started out with a massive flagship unit I borrowed from a friend and it was just ridiculous. The a6700 is so sleek, but with that huge thing on top, it felt like I was holding a hammer by the wrong end! My experience taught me a few things:

  • Weight balance matters way more than recycle speed for casual shooting
  • A small unit that tilts is way more useful than a giant one that doesnt fit in a pocket
  • Direct flash is usually ugly anyway, so I just look for something that can bounce I finally settled on a super compact setup that fits in my jacket pocket and I love it! The freedom of not having a top-heavy rig is fantastic. It makes me actually want to bring the light with me instead of leaving it in the car. Its amazing how much better the experience is when the gear actually fits the body!

If you are looking for off camera flash, get the AD200 Pro II.

Godox TT350S is a budget choice for a6700.

For budget-conscious shooters, I'd recommend the Godox V860III-S. Been using mine for portrait work and it's been incredibly reliable. The lithium battery lasts forever compared to AAs, and the wireless system works great with the X2T-S trigger. The modeling light is also surprisingly useful for video work. Best bang for your buck IMO.
