im actually so hyped for this camping trip we're doing in the PNW next month but my god amazon is making the prep work a total nightmare. i have like 22 items sitting in my cart right now-everything from a 4-person tent to those tiny little portable espresso makers-and i desperately need to show my friend so we can split the cost and make sure she likes the gear.

my logic was that a giant company like this would just have a simple share button or a link i could text her but ive been clicking around for twenty minutes and i feel like im losing my mind. i thought about just screenshotting the whole list but the cart is so long id have to take like 8 pictures and then she cant even click the links to read the reviews herself.

so then i was thinking maybe i have to move everything to a public wishlist? but moving 22 separate items one by one sounds like the most tedious thing on earth and i honestly dont have the patience for it right now. we have a $500 budget and i need to get this ordered by friday so it arrives in time for our trek. is there some kind of browser extension or a hidden trick that lets you just send the whole cart at once? i'm really fed up with how complicated they make something that should be so basic...

TL;DR: Everyone here basically agrees Amazon makes this a total nightmare. @Reply #2 - good point! This reminds me of my cousins lake trip disaster. He used a shared link that glitched, and half the group showed up without tents... huge waste of cash. Even though people suggest Cart To Link, i usually find these third-party tools not as good as expected. Just dont trust them much when a $500 budget is on the line.

I went through this exact same nightmare last summer planning a backpacking trip through the Sierras. Trying to coordinate gear lists using just screenshots was driving me insane until I found a way to simplify it. I honestly felt so satisfied when I finally discovered the Share-A-Cart extension because it does exactly what you're looking for without the wishlist hassle. I usually just follow these steps:

  • Install the browser extension
  • Open your cart and click the extension icon
  • Hit the Create Cart Code button It gives you a simple link you can just text over. I've used share amazon canada cart for my gear hauls and it works well every time, no complaints at all. It even keeps the quantities correct so your friend sees exactly what you're planning to buy. Honestly, it saved my sanity during that prep week... definitely the smoothest way to handle a big gear list.

In my experience, Amazon keeps this difficult on purpose. Over the years, Ive tried every collaborative list feature and they always fail because they dont sync quantities correctly. It is a massive pain for gear prep tho. Using a browser tool for a shareable URL is the only way to keep your sanity. If you're tired of manually adding items one by one, Cart To Link literally creates a single link for the whole basket.

To add to the point above: if you need absolute reliability for a $500 gear haul, sticking to the official Amazon platform is usually the safest bet. You can move items to a list fairly quickly by using the Move to List button in the cart, tho it takes some repetitive clicking. For a faster approach that still holds up, Share-A-Cart is likely your best option. Its a straightforward browser tool that generates a unique code for your entire basket. To keep things safe, i suggest following these steps:

  • Install the extension on Chrome or Firefox
  • Click the icon while your cart is open to generate your code
  • Send that code to your friend so she can load the exact same list Just a heads up tho, always verify the quantities and specific selections after the cart is shared. Third-party tools can occasionally miss small details like specific colors or size variations if the item has a lot of options. Doing a quick manual check before hitting the checkout button is the best way to avoid any shipping disasters. Its a decent middle ground between manual entry and full automation depending on your needs.
