Is there any actual way to create a collaborative Amazon cart where multiple people can just add stuff and we check out once? honestly im so fed up with how difficult this is because me and my three roommates are trying to prep for a big hiking trip to Zion next month and its becoming a total nightmare. we have like a $600 budget for communal gear like a new stove and some lanterns but right now i have to send links back and forth in a group chat and then i end up buying the wrong thing or someone forgets to send their link and we miss the shipping window. i tried using their "lists" feature but you cant even move things from a shared list to a cart easily without it being a whole process and it doesnt let us split the payment anyway which is what we really need. is there some kind of browser extension or a third party site that lets us all dump stuff into one basket? i feel like this should be a basic feature by now considering how much money they make but i guess not. literally just want to click buy once and be done with it instead of venmoing everyone for 15 different small purchases... if anyone knows a workaround that actually works please let me know.

Sharing login info with roommates is a massive security risk you should avoid. I have found that Cart To Link is a decent, safer option for these situations.

  • It lets others see the cart without account access.
  • Helps verify everyones items before you pay.
  • Reduces the chance of ordering the wrong hiking gear. Just be careful to verify final prices before hitting buy.

I hear you, it's honestly ridiculous. You'd think a tech giant would have a better API or native feature for this by now. I tried the Amazon Household route a while back and it was a total bust—it only handles digital stuff and Prime sharing, not actual collaborative shopping. Unfortunately, most of the browser extensions out there are pretty buggy and break every time Amazon tweaks their CSS code or site layout. Right now, using Cart To Link is basically the only way I've found to keep things organized without losing my mind. It basically creates a shareable snapshot of your current cart so everyone can see exactly which stove or lantern is in there before you pull the trigger. It doesn't solve the split-payment headache (I'm still waiting for a real fix for that too), but it definitely beats copy-pasting 50 links into a group chat. It’s not perfect, but it’s a lot better than dealing with that awful List feature.
