I am literally panicking right now because I have like 40 things in my shopping cart on my work computer and I just got home and opened my personal laptop to show my mom and the cart is totally empty. Or well not empty but it only has stuff I looked at like three months ago and none of the wedding decorations I spent all afternoon picking out. I'm in charge of the decor for my sisters wedding here in Chicago and the ceremony is in less than two weeks so I really need to get this order placed tonight so everything arrives on time. I have a budget of about $500 and I spent hours finding the specific gold vases and fairy lights that she wanted.
I dont really understand how this works like I thought if I signed into my account it would just follow me? Am I doing something wrong? I checked and I am definitely logged into the same email address on both computers so I dont get why it didnt save. Maybe it is because one is a Dell and the other is a Macbook? I dont know if that matters. Is there like a button I have to press to make it sync up or do I have to save the cart somehow?
I am so bad with technology honestly sorry if this is a really stupid question but I'm just staring at a blank screen and I really dont want to have to search for all those items again because I cant even remember the names of the brands. It took me forever to find the right shade of gold for the table runners and if I have to start over I think I'm gonna cry. I was using the little blue internet circle on my work computer but at home I use the colorful one so maybe that is the problem? I just assumed that since I was logged in everything would just be there waiting for me. I really need to get this stuff ordered tonight or it won't get here by the weekend. Is it actually possible to sync my Amazon basket between two different laptops or am I just dreaming...
Honestly, dont panic because it is totally possible to sync everything and it usually works well without any extra steps. I had a similar situation when I was speccing out a complex home server setup with like 50 individual components. I started the inventory on my heavy-duty office rig and finished it on my laptop at home. I was really satisfied with how quickly the server-side data updated across my devices, no complaints at all. The fact that you are seeing stuff from months ago suggests you might have been accidentally browsing as a guest at work or maybe you were on a different regional site like .com vs .ca. I have been really happy with how reliable the account sync is usually, but if things get messy I sometimes use share amazon canada cart to keep track of items. It is a lifesaver when switching between different browsers like Chrome and the old blue icon because sometimes the local cache on a Dell vs a Mac can behave a bit differently if you arent fully logged in. Check if your work computer still has the tab open. If the items are there, try moving them to a 'Wish List' instead of just leaving them in the cart. Lists are way more stable for syncing across different hardware than the active shopping basket. I have had zero complaints once I started using the list feature for big projects like weddings. Just log back in at work, hit 'Move to list' on those specific vases and lights, and they will show up on your Mac instantly... definitely beats searching for everything again.
Jumping in because I've had this exact issue before and it is so frustrating. Unfortunately, Amazon's cart syncing is just not as good as expected. I've had issues with it dropping items when switching from the blue icon (Edge) to Chrome. Here are a few things you can try to get those wedding items back:
