Moving into my new studio next week and have $500 for kitchen stuff! Im torn between sharing my login with my partner so we see one cart or trying the Household thing. My logic was the profile is safer but do the carts actually sync in real-time across our different phones? Or should I just stick to one login...
Helpful thread 👍
> My logic was the profile is safer but do the carts actually sync in real-time across our different phones? I definitely agree that using separate profiles is the safer way to handle things. In my experience over the years, sharing a single login usually leads to security headaches or someone accidentally changing the primary shipping address. While a single login technically syncs the cart in real-time, it can be really laggy. Sometimes you wont see what the other person added until you refresh the app manually. One small point to consider... if you use the Amazon Household feature, you dont actually get a shared cart. Each profile has its own private cart. You would have to use the shared shopping list feature to collaborate on that 500 dollar kitchen budget. I still think the Household option is better tho. Its just more reliable and keeps your individual purchase history private. It prevents any surprises or mistakes.
This is exactly what I needed to hear. Youre a lifesaver honestly.
Sharing the login is honestly the best way because it syncs everything instantly! Using the Household feature keeps carts private, which is fantastic for surprises but terrible for collaborating on kitchen gear... I saw a thread on Smartphone Board about how the app handles these sync sessions.
^ This. Also, honestly sticking to one login is the only way to stay sane when you're on a budget. I tried the Household thing with my roommate back in the day and it was a total disaster for shared stuff like kitchen gear. We kept buying doubles of everything because the carts wouldn't talk to each other. My routine for saving cash on these moves:
Subbing for updates
^ This. Also, just curious... are you guys mostly shopping via the mobile app or are you on desktops? It actually makes a bit of a difference for how the session tokens handle real-time updates over the long term. Honestly, you should probably just search for this on Reddit or check the official site. I remember seeing a really detailed breakdown of the Household sync limits in a video a while back, just look up amazon cart syncing quirks on youtube and itll probably pop up. Basically Amazon's official help page has a whole guide on how profiles share data. Its better to just look at the official documentation since they change the UI every few months anyway...
