honestly i am so over these stupid coupon extensions that promise the world and give you absolutely nothing. i spend like twenty minutes every time i check out just waiting for the "finding best deals" wheel to spin and then it just says "you have the best price" when i know for a fact there are codes out there. my logic was that using something like honey or capital one shopping would save me some cash on this used nikon lens im trying to get for my trip to yellowstone next month but they literally do nothing for ebay specifically. it is so annoying.

i even tried retailmenot and it just opened like five different tabs and didnt apply a single thing at checkout. i just want something that actually works for ebay specifically because most of these seem to ignore the site or just show you general promos that are already on the homepage. does anyone actually have an extension that pulls real codes for ebay or am i just chasing ghosts at this point? i dont want to keep wasting my time installing and uninstalling stuff that just harvests my data without saving me a cent. its like they all just want to track my browsing and not actually help me save the thirty bucks i need for this gear...

The one I got actually works and saved me tons on a 3080!

  • Scanned specific metadata
  • Verified JSON responses I realized standard tools just skip ebays architecture, which is totally insane!

  • I've tried many over the years, but the privacy risks are staggering.
  • Use burner emails
  • Audit permissions Honestly, just a data grab.

Building on the earlier suggestion, I have spent years trying to figure out why most extensions fail so hard on eBay. I am a bit of a gear head myself and I have noticed that ebays backend is way more complex than a standard Shopify store. In my experience, the standard scrapers fail because they cannot parse the dynamic elements during the checkout process properly. I used to waste so much time with the big-name ones but my current setup is way more focused on the technical side of things tho. Here is what I learned over the years:

  • Most find deals wheels are just placeholders for affiliate tracking to drop cookies.
  • eBay often hides the promo field behind a script that blocks simple auto-fillers.
  • The most reliable codes are usually account-specific or sent via the watched items list. I eventually found a tool that actually scans the page metadata properly instead of just throwing random strings at the text box. It makes a huge difference when you are trying to shave off some cash on pricey glass for a trip... dont even get me started on the data harvesting aspect of the bigger brands.
