I just bought this 65 inch Sony A80L and honestly the built-in speakers are absolute garbage for anything that isnt news. I spent way too much on the TV to have it sound like this but now im falling down a rabbit hole trying to find the perfect match and im honestly just frustrated with all the conflicting reviews. I looked at the HT-A7000 because everyone says it integrates perfectly with the Bravia UI and has that center sync feature where the TV acts as a speaker too but then i read on some forums that the Sonos Arc actually sounds better for music and movie clarity. But then people say the Sonos is a nightmare to set up with Sony's eARC port sometimes? I have a budget of about 1100 bucks and I really need to get this sorted by Friday because I have friends coming over for a movie night. My living room in my Chicago apartment is pretty narrow so im worried about the side-firing speakers on the high end models just bouncing off the walls weirdly. Is the Sony ecosystem stuff actually worth the extra cash or should i just go with something like Samsung or Sonos and ignore the matching brand thing? My head is spinning with all these model numbers and I just want something that works. Is the HT-A5000 enough or will I regret not going bigger?

Honestly, I've been super satisfied with my Sony setup for a while now. If you're worried about narrow walls, the A5000 is plenty. Quick tips:

  • Use the Sony HT-A5000 5.1.2ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar with its auto-calibration to fix those wall reflections.
  • Bravia Sync makes life way easier than fighting with different remotes. It just works and sounds great, no complaints here.
