Im losing my mind trying to track these tv releases and price drops. Seriously, I have been waiting for months to upgrade my living room setup in Chicago. My current setup is a total disaster, just an old 1080p panel that flickers when it gets warm. I need something new before the holidays hit because my parents are visiting and honestly I am embarrassed to show them this thing.

I really want one of the new 2026 Sony OLEDs, specifically eyeing the Bravia XR master series, but the prices are obviously insane right now. People keep telling me to wait for Black Friday, but I dont even know if models that new actually get marked down or if retailers just inflate the price beforehand. Im stuck between the 65-inch A95L successor or maybe just grabbing a discounted 2025 model if the 2026 ones dont budge.

My constraints are super annoying:

  • Budget is strictly under 3k, anything more and my wife is gonna kill me
  • Viewing distance is about 8 feet so 65 inches is the absolute max, cant fit anything larger on the wall mount currently installed
  • Use case is 70 percent gaming on a PS5, 30 percent 4K blu-rays
  • Timeline is definitely before Thanksgiving

Is there any point in waiting for late November for the newest releases, or should I just look for a year-old model to save the cash? I feel like every year the sales get worse or they just put the crappy secondary models on sale. Im so frustrated because I feel like if I buy now I get screwed on the price, but if I wait I might end up with nothing worth buying if the discounts are just a joke. Anyone have experience with how Sony handles these high-end releases during the black friday window...

Sony OLED TVs are currently on sale at B&H Photo Video:

Honestly, buying brand new Sony gear right at launch is usually a recipe for buyer's remorse if you're hoping for a Black Friday miracle. The flagship models barely move in price during the holidays because they're already selling like hotcakes to early adopters. I've had issues waiting for those deals before, and unfortunately, the discounts are usually just on the mid-tier stuff. You'd be way better off grabbing a Sony BRAVIA XR A95L 65 inch QD-OLED if you can find one on sale right now. It is still a absolute beast for PS5 gaming and honestly keeps up with anything new coming out this year. If the price is still too steep, I'd suggest looking at the LG OLED65G4 65 inch 4K Smart TV, which usually hits that $3k mark much easier and is incredible for gaming. Dont hold your breath for massive cuts on 2026 tech in November, it just never happens.

Just save the stress and grab a Sony A95L 65-inch 4K QD-OLED. It handles PS5 perfectly and prices for last year's tech are way better than waiting on 2026 releases.

Regarding what #1 said about buying at launch, they are totally right. Unfortunately, I've had issues with new releases not dropping in price at all. It is super frustrating when you just want a decent picture for the holidays.

  • Try looking at last year's panels instead
  • LG OLEDs are usually solid for gaming
  • Dont expect huge sales on fresh flagship gear Honestly, save yourself the stress and just get a reliable OLED from a brand like LG or even Panasonic if you can find one.

Honestly, the new flagship models rarely see big cuts in November. Youre probably better off hunting for a deal on last years high-end gear if you need that upgrade immediately.

Man, honestly, waiting on a 2026 flagship for a holiday discount is a total gamble that usually doesnt pay off. Are you super set on the Sony ecosystem, or would you consider another brand if it meant saving a grand?
