Just got an a7 IV for a wedding shoot in two weeks. I read that Sony Tough cards are the best but theyre so expensive and Im confused if I really need v90s for stills.
Also keep seeing people suggest a SmallRig cage but is that overkill if I dont do video? What are the absolute essentials I actually need?
Unfortunately, I had issues with the value of the Sony Tough SF-G Series V90 128GB. It isnt as good as expected for the price. The Kingston Canvas React Plus 128GB V90 UHS-II offers identical 300MB/s speeds for much less. While V90 is technically overkill for wedding stills, the ProGrade Digital SDXC UHS-II V60 Gold 128GB felt sluggish during buffer clearing. Skip the cage, honestly.
Ngl, i spent hours geeking out over bitrates when I got mine. V90 is totally overkill for stills unless you're spraying and praying at 10fps lol! Use these instead:
In my experience, skip the cage, its just dead weight for stills tho. Honestly, my biggest warning is never skip the dual slot setup. Always write to both cards so a failure doesnt ruin everything.
