sorry if this is a dumb question but I just got a used sony rx100 vii for a trip to Japan next month and Im terrified of scratching the screen. I literally know nothing about cameras or what kind of screen protector to buy. Tempered glass or plastic film? Does it even matter? I dont want to spend more like 15 bucks max since Im already over budget on the camera itself. If anyone has something they use and actually like please let me know what to get cuz Im totally lost here...

Congrats on the new camera, Japan is gonna be insane! Definitely go with tempered glass over plastic film, especially since you are traveling and it's gonna get banged around in your bag. Plastic just scratches way too easy and feels awful. You do not need to spend a fortune either. I dropped my RX100 on concrete in Kyoto and the protector shattered, but the actual screen was totally safe. Grab something like the Sony PCK-LM15 Glass Protector if you want the official one cheap, or honestly just look for a two-pack of GGS Larmor 4th Generation Glass Screen Protector on Amazon. They are super tough, fit the exact dimensions of the VII screen, and cost way under your fifteen dollar limit. Put it on as soon as you get it and shoot worry-free!

@Reply #1 - good point! Quick reply while I have a sec because I totally get the budget struggle after buying gear. If you want something super solid under that fifteen bucks limit, grab the Expert Shield Crystal Clear Screen Protector. It sits right around twelve bucks and honestly punches way above its weight class. Installation is a breeze and it doesnt leave any gross residue if you ever need to peel it off. Another one thats super reliable is the GGS Larmor Self Adhesive Glass Screen Protector. That thing is practically indestructible and fits the rx100 VII flush without messing with the touch screen responsiveness at all. Japan is gonna be incredible, just put the glass on the second you get it so you can stop stressing and actually enjoy your trip. Have an amazing time out there!

Get the Sony PCK-LM15 Glass Screen Protector right now. Seriously, it saved my gear so many times on my last trip! You definitely want glass over flimsy plastic because it actually absorbs impact instead of just stopping scratches.

  • Exact fit for the rx100 screen
  • Super clear so you can actually see your shots in bright sun
  • Shatter-proof design so it wont turn into dangerous little shards Drop it on clean and you are totally good to go for Japan.
