So I dropped my old flimsy tripod while walking around Chicago last weekend and now Im kind of desperate for something sturdier. Im using a Sony RX100 VII mostly for street stuff and travel vlogging so I need something that actually fits in a jacket pocket without weighing me down. Ive been looking at the Manfrotto PIXI online and people seem to love it for the price, but then I also read a bunch of reviews saying it sags if you tilt the camera sideways too much which worries me since I do a lot of vertical shots. Is there actually a decent pocket tripod out there that wont wobble under a small Sony or should I just look at a small gorilla pod instead...

Adding my two cents here because ive been through way too many mini tripods over the years. Like someone mentioned, the standard pixi just cant handle vertical weight very well once the button mechanism wears out a bit. Honestly, if you want something that disappears in a jacket pocket and locks down solid for vertical shots on your rx100, you gotta check out the Joby HandyPod Mobile. Its basically an evolved version of what you were looking at, but with a way better locking head.

  • holds portrait orientation without slipping AT ALL
  • feels great as a handgrip when folded up for vlogging
  • super lightweight so your jacket wont sag on one side Gorillapods are cool and all, but wrapping them around things gets old fast when you just need to drop it on a table quick. Grab one of these instead and you wont regret it. Let me know if you end up trying it out!

manfrotto pixi definitely sags with vertical shots tbh. save your cash and grab a Joby GorillaPod 1K instead, its way sturdier for pocket vlogging.

manfrotto sag is so annoying. id skip it and grab a Manfrotto PIXI EVO 2-Section instead, holds vertical weight way better and stays super cheap.
