Honestly im just so fed up with my current tripod. It feels like a literal boat anchor in my bag and honestly the head is so wobbly that half my long exposure shots from my trip to the peak district last week ended up blurry anyway. Im so excited to get back out there but i just cant stand lugging this heavy beast around anymore especially when im trying to keep my kit light for my Sony a7c setup.

I need something that actually works because im planning a big trip to Japan in three months and i dont want to deal with this junk anymore. My budget is probably around 200 to 300 bucks max. Here is what i need:

  • needs to be carbon fiber because i need it super light
  • gotta fold down small enough to fit inside a standard carry on backpack
  • must be sturdy enough to handle a bit of wind without vibrating like crazy

Is there anything out there that doesnt cost a fortune but actually holds steady? Im tired of wasting money on gear that just collects dust in my closet...

I feel your pain. I had issues with a cheap tripod that felt like a brick, and unfortunately, the blurriness is just not worth the frustration. For your setup, check out the Peak Design Travel Tripod Carbon Fiber. It is super compact and fits perfectly in a carry-on.

  • Extremely lightweight
  • Packs down tiny
  • Holds steady even in decent wind It is a bit of an investment, but totally worth it imo.

Late to the party but for the a7c, stay away from those flimsy travel sticks. I use the Sirui T-025SK Carbon Fiber Tripod because it is tiny and surprisingly stable for the size. Just be careful with max height, it's a bit short. If you need more height, look at the Benro MeFoto RoadTrip Pro Carbon Fiber Tripod. It is a solid middle ground but make sure to hang some weight on it if it gets windy.
