What is the absolute lightest tripod that wont tip over with my Sony ZV-1? I looked at the Peak Design travel model but its way out of my 150 dollar budget. Ive also seen those cheap Joby gorilla things online, but they look kinda flimsy for street photography here in Chicago. I need something by next weekend for a trip and Im honestly stressing out about what will actually hold up...

If you are working with a Sony ZV-1, you dont really need a full-sized professional tripod that breaks the bank. Honestly, the Manfrotto Pixi Evo 2-Section Mini Tripod is a solid upgrade from those flimsy GorillaPods. It is super compact and fits easily in a jacket pocket for Chicago street shots. It holds the ZV-1 perfectly fine and gives you enough stability for low-light stuff or vlogging without weighing you down. If you need something with a bit more height, check out the Sirui 3T-35K Tabletop Tripod. It is built like a tank compared to others in that price range and handles light mirrorless setups easily. Both should keep you well under your 150 dollar limit while feeling much sturdier than the cheaper alternatives.

Honestly, skip the cheap stuff. I tried the Sirui 3T-35K Tabletop Tripod and it unfortunately felt unstable in high winds. Better to spend a bit more on a sturdy Velbon UT-3AR Travel Tripod.

Late to the party, but honestly, those minis are super limiting for street stuff. I had issues with them not reaching any decent height. Save yourself the headache and grab the JOBY Compact Advanced Tripod 1.4kg load.

  • It is way more stable than the tabletop stuff
  • Fits right in your budget
  • Actually hits eye level for once Dont bother with those flimsy pods if you are out in the wind.
