Im so excited to finally pull the trigger on my vintage watch collection project this weekend! Im torn between using CamelCamelCamel (wait do they even do ebay??) vs WatchCharts vs this random chrome extension called BayOfIt. Heres what I need:

  • free or under $10 a month - tracks sold listings history accurately - works directly in chrome. Which one of these is actually worth my time before I start bidding?

First off, hold up on CamelCamelCamel for this one... thats strictly for Amazon tbh. If you want reliable data for vintage watches without getting burned on bad comps, you gotta be careful.

  • WatchCharts is solid for general market trends and pricing context
  • BayOfIt is okay, but random extensions can be sketchy with your browser data
  • Stick to established analytical tools rather than unverified chrome add-ons Honestly, just use a trusted third-party pricing platform directly in your browser tab instead of installing weird extensions. Safe to say sticking with proven data aggregators saves a lot of headaches when real money is on the line. Good luck with the collection!

Oh man, a vintage watch collection project sounds so exciting! I remember when I started mine a couple years back, I made so many dumb mistakes before figuring out the right tools. Quick question before I drop all my tips tho - what kind of watches are you hunting? Like are we talking Swiss dress pieces or 70s divers? Either way, you definitely wanna stick with established trackers rather than random extensions that might steal your data or break in a week.

  • watch out for sketchy browser tools
  • stick to reputable market analytics sites
  • always double check completed items manually Honestly, just use one of the big industry analytic platforms and you cant go wrong. Let me know what styles youre eyeing!

Like someone mentioned, you really gotta watch out for sketchy browser extensions when you are dealing with valuable vintage stuff. Honestly I had a terrible experience with BayOfIt last month when it broke mid-auction and totally messed up my bidding history. It was super frustrating and honestly just not worth the headache. Are you strictly set on using a live browser extension while you browse, or would you be open to just keeping a separate tab open for checking historical comps manually? Also, what specific watch brands are you targeting for this project?

Like someone mentioned, you gotta dodge Camel since its only for the big river site. WatchCharts is honestly pretty solid for vintage pieces. I ve been using it for a while now with zero complaints.

  • tracks sold data well - easy browser workflow ...plus some general market tools are super clutch for vintage hunting. I just added PriceDropCatch to my browser and it's saved me a decent amount on car parts so far.
