Ive been using my WH-1000XM4s for lifting for like two years now and honestly theyve been great but lately the earpads are getting super gross and the sweat is starting to mess with the hinges. Its honestly stressing me out cause I dont want them to break while I'm mid-set and have to deal with repairs or anything. Im hitting the gym about five days a week in NYC so it gets pretty humid in there. Should I just look for the newer XM5s or is there something more moisture resistant in the Sony lineup that wont break my budget? Im kinda worried about the fit on those smaller ones... really need something that stays put when I'm doing deadlifts.

^ This. Honestly, if youre trying to save some cash while keeping your gear from falling apart in the NYC humidity, you gotta look at the Sony MDR-XB55AP Extra Bass In-Ear Headphones. I know they are wired, but hear me out. Since youre doing deadlifts and dont want to worry about batteries or fancy features dying from sweat, these are absolute tanks. They stay put surprisingly well because of the cord design, and you can pick them up for a fraction of what youd spend on the premium wireless stuff. I used these for over a year when I was on a super tight budget and they never failed me. The bass is perfect for lifting too, like it actually has some punch for your heavy sets. Plus, if you end up snagging them on a rack or just sweating them out after six months, you arent out hundreds of dollars. It just makes way more sense to save your expensive over-ear headphones for the commute and keep these dedicated gym beaters in your bag. They wont break, they sound great, and you wont be stressing about the hinges or the earpads getting gross. Just my two cents from someone who learned the hard way that expensive tech doesnt always mean better gym performance.

> really need something that stays put when I'm doing deadlifts. Late to the party, but do you prefer ear hooks or wings for security? I suggest comparing Sony LinkBuds S Noise Canceling Earbuds against Sony WF-C700N Noise Canceling Earbuds.

Honestly, definitely dont go for the Sony WH-1000XM5 Noise Canceling Headphones. I had issues with mine during cardio and the hinge design is just not as good as expected for sweat. Unfortunately, over-ears just trap way too much moisture. You should grab the Sony WF-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Canceling Earbuds instead. They stay put way better during deadlifts and are much easier to clean after a humid session in NYC.
