what is the actual best gimbal for a sony fx3 because im honestly so lost right now and dont want to waste my money. i just bought this camera for my cousins wedding in seattle next month and i literally have no clue what im doing with accessories yet. is there one that is super easy to set up because i saw some videos about balancing and it looks like a total nightmare.

my budget is around $500 maybe $600 max and i just need something that wont break or be too heavy to carry all day. do i need extra plates or cables for the fx3 specifically or does it just work out of the box? sorry if this is a stupid question i just dont want to mess up the footage...

I remember my first wedding shoot, almost missed the vows because I didnt balance things right and the gimbal was vibrating like crazy... honestly sucked. You might want to consider the DJI RS 3 3-Axis Gimbal Stabilizer for DSLRs and Mirrorless.

  • the auto-locking axes save so much stress
  • make sure you watch the cable clearance
  • it works out of the box but watch the top handle weight

Coming back to this... honestly, people overthink the gear. I remember lugging a heavy rig at a beach wedding once and my arm felt like jelly by noon. You should look at the FeiyuTech SCORP-C 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal. Its way under budget. Seriously. Use the savings for extra batteries. For balancing help, check out Josh Satten on YouTube. He makes the FX3 setup look super easy for beginners.

Jumping in here because I've done the wedding circuit for years and weight is everything. If you're worried about your wrists dying by the reception, look at the Zhiyun Weebill 3S Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer. It's usually under $450 and that built-in wrist rest is a lifesaver for the FX3 since the body is pretty dense once you add a decent lens. A few technical bits for your setup:

  • Modern gimbals have locking switches for each axis, which makes balancing way less of a nightmare than it used to be.
  • The FX3 is a bit wide, so use the offset plate if the camera body hits the motor during tilts.
  • For more motor power with heavy lenses, the Zhiyun Crane 4 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer is awesome but a bit heavier to carry all day.
  • You wont need extra cables usually, as the USBC cable in the box handles the record trigger perfectly. Just practice balancing it 5 times in your living room before the wedding... it really becomes muscle memory pretty fast.
