Best fast UHS-II SD cards for Sony a1 and a9 III performance?

I'm looking for the best UHS-II SD cards for my Sony a1 and a9 III. Since I do a lot of high-speed burst shooting, I'm worried about buffer clearing times. Which V90 cards actually hit those advertised write speeds in these specific bodies? I need reliability for professional work. Any particular brands you’ve had success with?

Basically, Sony TOUGH-G series SDXC UHS-II V90 128GB Memory Card is fastest, but ProGrade Digital SDXC UHS-II Video Speed Class 90 (V90) 256GB Memory Card is cheaper. Sony's best for speed tbh!

Respectfully, I'd consider another approach before you drop a ton of cash on those big names. Basically, V90 cards are rated to maintain a 90MB/s minimum write speed, which is actually CRITICAL so your a1 doesn't lock up or stutter while clearing those huge bursts... that's like every professional's nightmare, right??

- Honestly, I'm super satisfied with the SanDisk Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-II 128GB V90 since it's a classic, safe choice that's usually way more budget-friendly than the Sony cards.
- You should also look at the Angelbird AV PRO SD MK2 V90 256GB UHS-II because it works well and feels VERY reliable for long days of shooting without any issues.

I think it's probably better to save ur money and have two reliable cards instead of just one overpriced one, you know? Anyway, gl!! 👍

For ur situation, compare Kingston Canvas React Plus SDXC UHS-II 128GB vs Delkin Devices 128GB POWER SDXC UHS-II V90 vs Lexar Professional 2000x SDXC UHS-II 128GB. kingstons fastest, delkins tougher, lexars pricey. kingston wins tbh!

Re: "Respectfully, I'd consider another approach before you drop..."

  • I hear you, but honestly I have to disagree because it feels like there are no safe bets anymore. It drives me totally crazy how these companies charge a fortune for what is basically a tiny sliver of plastic. Its such a scam, right?? We spend a small fortune on an a1 or a9 III and then get gouged even more just to make the thing actually work. I get so nervous every time I have to buy new storage because quality control across all these big brands has clearly gone downhill lately. You might want to be really careful because I've seen so many people get burned by cards that should have been reliable. It really makes me anxious that we have to pay these insane prices for cards that might just fail anyway... the manufacturers just dont seem to care about us once they have our money. Honestly its just ridiculous and frustrating for everyone involved. Just makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes...
