Does anyone know which super small external mics actually work well with the Sony ZV-1 without blocking the flip out screen? Im trying to get my gear ready for a trip to Japan next month and Im stuck.
I saw the Rode VideoMicro mentioned everywhere as a top pick but then I read a couple comments saying the cable or the shock mount totally gets in the way of the screen when its flipped out to the side which would be a huge pain. I also looked at that Sony ECM-G1 because it uses the hot shoe for power and no cables sounds great but its like 150 bucks and I really wanted to stay under $80 if I could.
Just need something tiny that handles wind okay while Im walking around Tokyo...
Brought these along to Kyoto last year.
Unfortunately, I had issues with the Rode VideoMicro Compact On-Camera Microphone on a trip to Kyoto last year. The cable is just a mess and blocks the screen constantly. I eventually tried the Deity V-Mic D4 Mini Cardioid Microphone which was much better since the jack is offset, tho the audio quality was not as good as expected in high wind. Still, it fits the ZV-1 layout way better and wont break the bank.
