So I finally caved and bought a Sony ZV-1 for my little travel vlog channel. Im headed to Japan in about three weeks and honestly Im terrified of dropping the thing. Its so tiny and smooth that it just feels like it wants to slip out of my hands every time I try to hit record. I dont have much gear experience so sorry if this is a super basic question but I keep seeing people with these extra handle things attached to their cameras.
Are those actually helpful or just annoying bulk? I dont want to spend a fortune since I already blew my budget on the camera itself but I need something secure. I saw a couple of grip options online but they all look kinda confusing and I have no idea if they fit my specific model or if I need some special mount for them. Do I just need a simple stick thing or are there actual grips that make it feel like a real camera? Im feeling pretty clueless here and just want to make sure I dont break it before I even get to Tokyo...
Honestly the ZV-1 is super slippery. Grab the SmallRig 2938 Camera Cage or the Sony GP-VPT2BT Shooting Grip. They make it way easier to hold without dropping it.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I totally get being nervous about dropping it. Since you're on a budget, look into a simple wrist strap instead of a bulky handle. It saved my camera once already.
Regarding what #2 said about building on the earlier suggestion, I totally get it, but man, my cousin once dropped his brand new camera into a fountain in Kyoto! Total disaster.
