Im getting so annoyed trying to find a decent lens for my ZV-E10. I tried using the kit lens for walking around and vlogging but honestly it just looks like garbage and I cant fit enough in the frame when Im holding it at arms length. I really need something wider for when Im traveling through NYC next month for work because the streets are way too tight for anything else. Ive been looking at the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 because everyone raves about it but is it actually too big to carry around all day? Then there is the Sony 11mm f/1.8 which seems perfect for the weight but its pricier and I really dont want to blow my 500 dollar budget if I dont have to. Also checked out the Samyang 12mm but I keep hearing mixed things about the build quality. Which one of these is actually going to be the least annoying for all day shooting? Im honestly losing my mind comparing these specs and watching videos that all say the same thing. Is the extra cash for the Sony glass really worth it or should I just grab the Sigma and deal with the weight...

Ugh, I totally get the frustration with the kit lens. It just doesnt cut it for vlogging. If you want my honest take, you should really look at the Sony E 11mm f/1.8 Prime Lens. I know it hurts the wallet, but its significantly smaller and lighter than the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens which feels like a total brick after a few hours of walking around NYC.

  • The 11mm gives you that super wide field of view which is honestly a lifesaver in tight city streets.
  • The Sony lens has way better weather sealing too, just in case you get caught in some random city rain.
  • Be careful with the Sigma because its front-heavy and might make your setup feel super unbalanced on a handheld gimbal or grip. Basically, if you can stretch the budget, get the Sony. Youll thank yourself when your arm isnt falling off by noon.

Re: > be careful with stabilized lenses. I've found that heavy glass really kills your wrist during long NYC walks, so weight matters more than specs. Totally agree! I took the Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD to Manhattan once and man, my arm was dead by noon. If you want to save cash and stay light, grab a used Samyang 12mm F2.0 AF. It is super sharp and tiny, way easier to carry than the Sigma brick!

To add to the point above: be careful with stabilized lenses. I've found that heavy glass really kills your wrist during long NYC walks, so weight matters more than specs.
