How do I see historical price data for eBay listings?

Im trying to track what vintage toy cars have actually sold for over the last year because current prices seem totally inflated. Ive checked the basic eBay completed listings filter but it only goes back 90 days which isnt helpful for long-term trends. I read about Terapeak but it looks like you need a store subscription and honestly Im just a casual collector on a zero dollar budget. Are there any free tools or workarounds to see sales data beyond the standard 3 month window? My goal is just to avoid overpaying for a few items I want to snag before my birthday next month. Does anyone know a way around this or am I just stuck?

You can try PriceDropCatch for tracking, but honestly check WorthPoint or 130point for those older sales. They usually have better data than the basic eBay filter for free.

To add to the point above: I think checking out PriceCharting might be your best bet! Not sure but they usually track older vintage stuff pretty accurately for free. Good luck!

Coming back to this, I feel your pain. I spent months trying to track down rare diecast cars and honestly, the limited eBay window is super frustrating for us collectors on a budget. Like someone mentioned, the free tools are okay, but unfortunately I had issues with data gaps when searching for items that dont sell very often. My approach now is a bit more manual but effective:

  • Use this eBay price tracker to keep an eye on specific keywords since it sends alerts when things pop up.
  • Keep a personal spreadsheet of sales I see in real time because honestly, relying on external sites isnt as good as expected for niche collectibles.
  • Check forums specific to your brand, as older threads often have users posting past auction results. Its a hassle, but thats how I saved a ton on my last purchase.
