Can I share my Amazon shopping cart link with someone?

Im literally about to pull my hair out right now. Ive been sitting at my kitchen table for three hours trying to pick out stuff for my first apartment in Chicago—I move in less than two weeks and I have zero furniture or kitchen stuff yet. My budget is super tight so I spent all afternoon comparing prices for stuff like:

  • a basic set of dinner plates
  • some cheap bath towels
  • a toaster that wont blow up
  • a set of bed sheets

I finally got about 22 things in my cart that I think are okay but I really need my sister to look at them before I hit buy because shes way better at decorating than I am and I dont want to waste money on junk. I basically need her to tell me if the colors match or if Im buying something that is going to break in a week.

The problem is I cant figure out how to actually show her what is in there. I tried just copying the address at the top of the screen—you know the part that starts with amazon dot com—and I sent it to her in a text message. She clicked it and called me all confused saying it just opened her own account and showed her some weird vitamins she was looking at yesterday. It doesnt show her my stuff at all? I feel so dumb even asking this because it seems like it should be so easy but I am totally lost and frustrated and I have no idea where to start fixing it. I looked all over the page for a share button like you see on YouTube or Facebook but I dont see anything except the yellow checkout button and I am definitely not ready to click that yet.

Do I have to like take a screenshot of every single item and send them one by one? Please tell me there is an easier way because that sounds like a total nightmare and I still have so much other stuff to pack before the movers get here. Is there a way to just send a link to my whole shopping cart so someone else can see the items? I really have no idea what I am doing here...

Like someone mentioned, it is all about that session-based architecture! I was in your shoes a few months back when I was trying to spec out a high-performance workstation. I had 30+ items in my cart like specific ECC memory modules and high-speed NVMe drives. I sent the link to my tech lead and he saw his own grocery list instead of my build! It is basically because the shopping cart is a localized session state tied to your browser cookies. Incredible for security, but honestly a total pain for sharing data. I did some deep diving into the site code and realized there is literally no way to do it natively because of how their database handles user IDs. The only logical move is to use a third-party extension or tool to share Amazon carts which basically exports the ASIN data-those are the unique 10-digit codes for every product-so someone else can see them instantly. I used a tool like that for my server build and it was a total lifesaver! It let me verify the power draw and compatibility of every single component with my team before spending a dime. It is gonna save you a massive amount of stress with your apartment stuff too because you can get that instant feedback on whether those plates are actually durable or just cheap ceramic! It is amazing how much time you save when you stop fighting the UI.

Jumping in here because I totally get the frustration, moving is expensive enough without accidentally buying stuff that turns out to be trash. I was super happy when I figured out why that URL trick doesnt work—it is just tied to your personal login for security. Since you are on a tight budget and really need your sister to vet the decor, you should definitely check out Cart To Link if you need to send your whole cart to someone else quickly without the hassle. I used it for my last kitchen restock and it works well, no complaints at all. It basically takes everything youve picked and makes it shareable so she can see the exact items and prices. Honestly it saves so much time over doing individual screenshots or making a whole registry just for a few plates and a toaster. It really helped me stay on budget too because my friend could tell me which items were actually worth the money before I spent a dime. Hope the move to Chicago goes smooth!

> Do I have to like take a screenshot of every single item and send them one by one? Honestly, I tried that when I was moving and it was a total nightmare. Amazon doesnt actually let you share a direct cart link because its tied to your login. I finally found a way to share Amazon carts that actually worked for me. It saved so much time when I needed my mom to check my furniture list... basically made the whole process way less stressful.
