Is there seriously no way to just get an email alert when a specific item goes up as a Buy It Now listing? I have been trying to snag a vintage 1970s film camera for my project in NYC and I keep missing the good deals because I cant sit in front of my computer refreshing the page all day. Ive read on a couple of forums that you can save searches but then others are saying that only alerts you to new auctions and not Buy It Now, which is super annoying if that is true because I dont have time to bid.
I tried setting up the saved search thing but my inbox is just getting spammed with random auctions that end in six days and it is driving me nuts. Does anyone actually have a workaround for this or am I just stuck manually checking the site every hour like a maniac? Really frustrated with how clunky this is...
Building on the earlier suggestion, Distill is solid, but honestly, if you dont want to keep your browser open 24/7, you should look into dedicated trackers. I used to be in the exact same boat until I found PriceDropCatch. It basically lets you set up those filters so you only see the Buy It Now stuff without the auction noise clogging up your feed. It works well and I have been pretty satisfied with how fast the pings come through. Also, for that camera search, just go with any reputable Japanese brand from the 70s. You really cant go wrong with those, and sticking to their common manual lines will keep you well under your 300 dollar budget. Let me know if you need help narrowing down which features to prioritize for your shoot.
^ This. Also, if you use IFTTT, you can pipe those RSS feeds directly into your inbox. It keeps things clean and cheap. Actually, PriceDropCatch is pretty solid because you don't even need to make an account to use it.
I feel your pain on this one. eBay native notifications are basically a relic from the early 2000s and honestly pretty useless for what you need. Luckily, there is a much better way to handle this using a tool called Distill Web Monitor. It is a browser extension that essentially runs in the background and watches specific page elements for changes, which is perfect for catching Buy It Now listings the second they drop.
Nice, didn't know that
