I just picked up a 65" Sony OLED and I’m a bit nervous about the mounting process. Since the VESA holes are positioned lower on the back, I’m looking for something that sits flush but still allows for easy cable access. Any specific brands you’d recommend for this model? What mount worked best for your setup?
honestly, basically grab the Mounting Dream MD2268-MK!!:
- use 10mm spacers
- verify vertical shift specs
it’s way cheaper and i think your gonna love it tho
Sooo, I was in the exact same boat with my A80K a few months back. Honestly, I was highkey terrified of that thin glass panel snapping because those VESA holes are basically at the bottom lol. For your situation, I'd suggest the Echogear Full Motion TV Wall Mount (EGLF2). I know people love slim mounts, but since you're worried about cable access and safety, this thing is literally built like a tank. It cost me about $100, and iirc it supports 125 lbs—way more than that Sony weighs. It pulls out far enough that you can actually see the HDMI ports without scratching the wall. Lesson learned: don't cheap out on the lag bolts. Use the ones in the box and make sure you're dead center on the studs. Tbh I'm super satisfied with how sturdy it feels! peace
I went through this last year. Honestly, it was kinda a headache with those low VESA holes. 1. Fixed: Too flush, ports were basically unusable.
2. Generic Tilt: Lacked the vertical shift needed for that offset.
3. Sanus Tilt: Best choice. I think it had the range for those low VESA points... IIRC it felt way more secure. gl!!
I totally get being nervous about this, i was the same way. Those thin panels feel so fragile. If youre trying to keep costs down but still want something that performs well, i'd look at the Perlesmith TV Wall Mount Full Motion PSLF6. It is way cheaper than the boutique brands but the steel is thick and it feels very secure once its bolted into the studs. With the low VESA pattern on the Sony, you just have to be extra careful with your vertical placement. If you mount the bracket at standard height, the TV will sit way higher than you think. Honestly, i spent like an hour just measuring and re-measuring because i didnt want any accidents. Its definitely a great budget pick that handles the weight without any sagging tho.
Yeah this thread covers a lot of ground already. Basically it seems like you gotta decide if you want that super flush look or if youre okay with it sticking out a bit for better access. Being a bit of a newbie with these high end TVs, I realized after a few months that there are some long term things you gotta be careful about so you dont end up damaging the panel later.
Exactly what I was thinking
In my experience, you gotta go with the Sony SU-WL855 Ultra Slim Wall-Mount Bracket. Most mounts mess up the vertical alignment cuz of that low VESA pattern, but this one is spec-matched. It sits super flush (about 11mm) yet the magnetic swivel lets you pull it out for cable access. I've used it on dozens of A80 and A95 installs and it's basically the gold standard. gl!
Nice, didn't know that
Big if true
