Hey everyone! I finally pulled the trigger on a 65-inch Sony Bravia XR A80L during a recent sale, and while the picture quality is absolutely stunning, the built-in speakers just aren't cutting it for my movie nights. I really want that immersive cinematic feel, especially for 4K Blu-rays and gaming on my PS5.
I have been doing some research, but I am a bit overwhelmed by the options. I am specifically looking for something that plays nice with the Sony ecosystem. I have heard about features like:
My budget is somewhere in the $600 to $900 range. I have looked at the Sony HT-A5000, but I have also seen people rave about the Sonos Beam or Arc. However, I am worried I might miss out on specific Bravia-only features if I go with a different brand. Does the integration with a Sony soundbar actually make a noticeable difference in the daily user experience, or should I just focus on the best raw audio quality I can get for my money?
What are the best soundbars you guys have paired with your Bravia TVs lately?
Agreed, staying Sony is smart. Look at the Sony HT-A3000 3.1ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar if you want to save cash for a dedicated sub while keeping those ecosystem features.
Congrats on the A80L, thats a killer TV. Honestly, if you are already in the Sony ecosystem, staying there makes a lot of sense for the quality of life features alone. I went through the same dilemma last year when I got my set. I ended up with the Sony HT-A5000 5.1.2ch Dolby Atmos Soundbar and it has been great. To answer your question, yes, the integration definitely matters. When you use Acoustic Center Sync, the TV speakers actually help out with the dialogue, making it feel like voices are coming directly from the actors mouths instead of from underneath the screen. It is subtle but once you have it, you will notice when it is gone. Plus, being able to control all the soundbar settings directly through the TVs quick settings menu is way better than juggling two remotes or a separate app. If you want to stay in your $600 to $900 budget, the A5000 is basically the sweet spot. Tbh, while the bar itself is good, I would eventually look at adding the Sony SA-SW3 200W Wireless Subwoofer when you can. The bar has built-in subs, but for those 4K Blu-rays you mentioned, you really want that dedicated low-end thump. Bravia Sync makes the whole setup feel like one unit, which is basically what you want for a seamless movie night. You wont regret sticking with Sony for the compatibility alone... it just works.

Just catching up on this thread... I actually went through the same thing when I got my A80L. I really wanted the whole Sony ecosystem to work, but after trying it out, I felt like I was paying a premium for features that didnt actually improve the sound that much. I ended up ditching the Sony-only dream and went with a Samsung setup instead. Honestly, you just cant go wrong with Samsung if you want reliability and pure audio performance. Even without the center sync feature, the soundstage feels way more immersive to me. Plus, the Bravia remote still controls the volume perfectly fine through the eARC connection, so it's not like you're juggling five remotes. If you're looking for the best audio for your cash, just get any of the premium Atmos bars from Samsung. Its been rock solid for my movie nights and gaming... definitely worth considering if you want that cinematic feel without overpaying for the brand sync.
