Ive been a Sony guy forever and usually my DualSense just works for everything but Im trying to get a cloud gaming setup going on my new Bravia XR for my kids sleepover tonight and its being a total nightmare. I tried my old DS4 and it pairs but the lag is insane and half the buttons dont map right.
I need something that definitely works out of the box with Google TV without needing some weird dongle. Im heading to Best Buy in like an hour so I need to know what to grab. Is the Xbox Core controller actually better for compatibility here or should I stick to a specific 8BitDo model? Budget is around 60 bucks.
^ This. Also, I honestly think Xbox pads are a bit overrated for Sony TVs tho. Actually had a scary moment with a cheap battery overheating once, so I switched to the <a href=" https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt= SteelSeries+Stratus%2B+Bluetooth+LE+Wireless+Controller+for+Android&BI=8941&KBID=10361&SID=12345&DFF=d50" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">SteelSeries Stratus+ Bluetooth LE Wireless Controller for Android. Its amazing! Used it for a massive sleepover last month and it was fantastic.
I really wanted my Sony setup to be seamless, but honestly, using a DualSense on my Bravia was such a letdown. I had constant disconnects during my last cloud session and its just not worth the headache. I finally caved and grabbed the Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller Core Bluetooth Carbon Black and it actually works perfectly. Quick tip: Update the firmware on a PC before pairing. TL;DR: Grab the Xbox Core controller.
Saw this a bit late, hope the kids had fun anyway. In my experience, the 8BitDo Pro 2 Bluetooth Gamepad is the most reliable pick for Google TV setups. I've tried many others over the years, but this one just works without fussing with settings and it stays under $50. If you grabbed the Microsoft Xbox Wireless Controller Carbon Black, that's also a solid, plug-and-play choice for cloud gaming.
