I just treated myself to a 65-inch Sony Bravia XR, and now I’m looking for the perfect wall mount to finish the setup. Since this TV was a bit of an investment, I’m really nervous about using a cheap, generic mount. I’m ideally looking for something heavy-duty—maybe a full-motion or a high-end tilt mount—so I can easily get behind it for cable management. Has anyone found a specific brand that works perfectly with the VESA pattern on these Sony sets? I've heard Sanus is good, but I'd love to hear what you guys actually use for your setups. What’s the most reliable, high-quality mount you’d recommend for a 65-inch Sony?

Honestly, safety first... I'd suggest the Chief TS525TU Thinstall Large Full-Motion Wall Mount. I've used these for years; basically the industry gold standard for heavy sets. Just make sure ur hitting studs!!

Curious about one thing: whats your ACTUAL budget? Ngl, Sanus is highkey overpriced. Comparing Echogear Full Motion TV Wall Mount EGLF2 ($120) vs Mounting Dream Full Motion TV Wall Mount MD2298 ($70)... the Echogear is sturdier but the MD was not as good as expected for heavy sets. Honestly, Echogear is the best value. Do you need massive swivel or just cable access?

In my experience, you’re right to be careful with such an expensive set!! Honestly, I was so nervous about mine falling... I suggest the SANUS Elite VLF728 Full-Motion Mount. * Super heavy-duty
* Easy cable access
* Solid VESA fit Just make sure ur mounting it to studs or maybe even hire a pro? Idk if generic ones are worth the risk. Better safe than sorry!

Just sharing my experience: I’ve found that sticking with pro-grade brands like Peerless-AV or Chief is highkey the best way to go for these heavy Sony sets. I’ve been mounting screens for over a decade, and while the Sanus mentioned earlier is solid, I’ve had much better long-term luck with the heavy-duty industrial stuff for my own living room setups. - First off, I learned the hard way that Sony's VESA pattern is usually lower on the chassis. This means your mounting height has to be calculated differently or the TV sits way higher than you planned... literally happened to me on my first try lol.
- Full-motion is basically the only way to go if you care about cable management. Being able to pull that heavy screen away from the wall to swap out an HDMI cable without calling a friend to help is a lifesaver.
- I've noticed that the cheaper, generic mounts tend to "sag" over time when they're extended. I'm currently using a heavy-duty mount from one of those pro brands, and its stayed perfectly level for years.
- Its also really important to look at the wall plate width. I always feel better when the mount spans at least two studs just for that extra security. Seriously, dont skimp on the hardware. I was so nervous with my first Bravia XR investment, but once I saw how thick the steel was on a high-end mount, I felt way better. Honestly, I'm super satisfied with the direction I went. GL with the setup!! peace

Re: "Following"

  • I went through this exact headache last week and it was way more stressful than I expected. I tried to go the cheap route initially with a basic store brand, but unfortunately, it was a total disaster for my Sony. These TVs have a weird weight distribution since the VESA holes are so low on the back. My first mount just couldnt stay level and the whole thing felt like it was gonna rip out of the drywall. I learned a few things the hard way while doing this myself:
  • Sony sets are bottom-heavy, so you need a mount with solid tilt tension.
  • Cable clearance is tricky because the ports face sideways or down, often right where the brackets sit.
  • Cheaper mounts have terrible post-install leveling which you definitely need. I ended up returning the junk and getting the Kanto PDX680 Full Motion Wall Mount instead. Its super sturdy and has a way better reach for getting behind the screen than those budget ones. Ngl, its worth spending a bit extra so you dont spend all night worrying if your TV is gonna hit the floor... it really ruined my weekend dealing with the first one.
