im getting so anxious about this 14 hour flight to tokyo i have coming up next month and i really need to block out the noise. so i was thinking about getting the wh-1000xm5 because everyone says the anc is the best but then i saw they dont fold down and my personal item bag is tiny. my logic was maybe i should just get the xm4 instead since they actually fold up small but i dont want to buy old stuff if the xm5 is significantly better for long term comfort. my budget is capped at $350 and i just cant decide which one is better for actual travel... help?

Ive used them for years and that folding design is a total lifesaver when space is tight. The Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones are great but the case is huge... it just doesnt fit well in a small personal item bag. Since your budget is $350, youll actually save a decent chunk of money going with the older model too. They go on sale all the time for like $250 or less. Comfort-wise, they are pretty much the same for long-haul flights and the noise cancelling is still top-tier. Itll definitely block out the engine drone so you can actually sleep, tbh. Go for the XM4 and save the cash for your trip!
