Im shooting a wedding in two weeks and just got an FX6 but I really dont want to blow my gear up with a cheap battery. I saw people recommending the IDX ones but they are so expensive, then I read about Neewer but some guys say they fail randomly... honestly im just stressed about finding something reliable under 300 bucks. What are you guys actually using that wont die on me mid-ceremony?

Re: "Check out the Anton Bauer Titon Micro..." - honestly I agree, but if you're feeling the pinch, look at these instead. I had issues with some of the cheaper brands failing after a few months, so dont expect them to last forever.

Jumping in here to say please dont cut corners on power for a wedding. I had a generic one short out my port years ago, cost me way more than a battery. I use Core SWX Nano-V98 98Wh V-Mount Battery for peace of mind. Its solid, reliable, and fits the FX6 perfectly without stressing the pins. Seriously, you really dont want to be the guy frantically swapping power during the ring exchange.

Check out the Anton Bauer Titon Micro 90Wh V-Mount Battery. Been using them for years without issue. Also, the FXLion Nano Two 98Wh V-Mount Battery is super reliable and compact.

Congrats on the new FX6! Honestly dont risk a wedding with those super cheap generic batteries you find online. I know the name brand stuff is pricey but for a wedding gig you really need that peace of mind. I started off trying to save a buck and had a unit shut off on me right during the vows which was a nightmare.

  • Look for batteries with built in protection circuits for voltage spikes
  • Check that the capacity matches your power draw needs
  • Always test your setup at home for a few hours before the big day Basically just stick to reputable brands that have actual support if things go south. Even if you have to stretch the budget slightly it beats having a dead camera when the bride is walking down the aisle. Youll be fine just keep it reliable.

Re: Congrats on the new FX6! Honestly dont risk... totally agree with the first reply here. You really dont want a black screen during the vows, thats a nightmare scenario. I learned the hard way that saving fifty bucks on a battery is never worth the stress of gear failing in the field. Be careful with those budget brands that promise the world; usually, their internal cells just arent up to the power draw that the FX6 demands, especially if you have an external monitor or mic plugged in too. I would suggest looking for mid-tier options that are known for stable BMS circuitry instead of just buying whatever has the highest capacity for the lowest price. Just make sure whatever you grab has decent reviews from actual cinema folks, not just generic ratings.
