sorry if this is a dumb question but Im totally lost here... I just got a Sony a7R VI for my upcoming trip to Iceland next month and I keep reading that I need an L-bracket for putting it on a tripod vertically. honestly I had no idea these were even a thing until yesterday. I was looking online and theres like a million different brands and custom fit ones vs universal ones and my head is spinning. My budget is around 50 to 100 bucks if possible. Do I really need a brand specific one for this camera model or do the cheaper universal ones work fine for a beginner?
> universal ones work fine for a beginner? Late to the party here, but trust me you dont want a universal one. Had a cheap generic one slip mid-shot in Lofoten once and almost dropped my gear. Get a custom fit option instead. Check out the Really Right Stuff L-Bracket for Sony a7R V if you can stretch the budget, or look at the Leofoto L-Bracket for Sony A7R V which is way more affordable and built like a tank. Saves so much frustration in the cold.
Iceland is gonna be amazing tho! Unfortuantely you def want a custom fit bracket here cause universal ones block the battery door and cable ports way too often on the modern Sony bodies.
