I just bought a small Sony camera for my vacation but the indoor pictures look terrible. I have no idea where to start with extra lights and dont want to spend more than $100. sorry if this is basic but which external flash actually fits the compact models and is easy to use?

I've been really satisfied with these two:

To add to the point above: if youre looking to save a few bucks while getting decent indoor shots, I've been really satisfied with these budget picks. Theyre way better than the built-in flash and wont break the bank.

  • Meike MK-320S Mini TTL Speedlite for Sony is a solid little unit that usually goes for about $70. Its got full TTL support so the camera does the math for you. Super small, fits right in a jacket pocket.
  • Neewer NW-320 Mini TTL Speedlite for Sony is another great one. It actually tilts and swivels so you can bounce the light off the ceiling. Makes a huge difference for indoor photos so they dont look like snapshots. Both use AA batteries but can also charge via micro-USB which is basically a lifesaver on vacation. Honestly, no complaints here. They do exactly what they need to for a fraction of the official Sony price.

> indoor pictures look terrible. Unfortunately, most budget options underperform. Which model are you using? I had issues with the Viltrox JY610II Manual Mini Speedlite recently, though it is very affordable.
