^ This. Also, be careful with center columns on these tiny hiking tripods. If you want something rock solid for that RX100 without spending a fortune, you might want to look at the Sirui T-005S Traveler Light Aluminum Tripod with B-00 Ball Head. It weighs basically nothing but the build quality is way better than those plastic ones. Just make sure to hang your pack on the hook if its windy in the Alps.

Just saw this thread today. I learned the hard way when I took my RX100 up to the Berner Oberland last year. I thought a cheap plastic mount would be fine because the camera is tiny, but the wind on those ridges is no joke. My rig almost tipped off a ledge because the center of gravity was way too high and the leg diameter was basically a pencil. You really need to watch the specs on leg sections and max load rather than just the total weight. I would suggest looking at the Vanguard VEO 3GO 204AB Aluminum Travel Tripod. It has a max height of about 51 inches and a load capacity of around 6.6 lbs. That is overkill for an RX100, but that is exactly what you want for stability when you are hiking in high altitudes. Be careful with those 4-section legs though. The more sections you have, the thinner the bottom ones get. I usually keep the thinnest section retracted if it is actually windy to avoid micro-vibrations in the frame. Another option might be the Slik Sprint Pro III BH Travel Tripod with Ball Head. It is extremely light at about 2.2 lbs but uses a metal build that feels much safer. Make sure to check the ball head specifically... I found that cheap heads tend to droop a few millimeters after you tighten them, which ruins long exposures of waterfalls. Tbh for a hike that big, spending the $110 is better than losing a $900 camera. Just dont go too cheap on the quick release plate either, make sure its actually secure before you start walking.

I would suggest looking at the Manfrotto Element MII Aluminum Travel Tripod since it stays stable and fits your budget. Be careful with super cheap carbon fiber tho, its usually a trap. You might want to consider the Joby GorillaPod 3K Kit for hiking since it is super light but still holds a Sony RX100 well.
